Sylvette David
PICASSO’S MUSE SYLVETTE
She’s now 87, but back in the day, when she was 19 years old and living in Vallauris, France, Sylvette David (aka Lydia Corbett) met Picasso. At that time they were neighbours; he with his wife Jacqueline and she with her boyfriend Toby, who was a carpenter. Toby delivered a chair to Picasso. The painter expressed an interest in painting Sylvette, and eventually, after several notes being thrown over the wall, she agreed! The rest is history. Picasso painted 40 paintings of THE GIRL WITH THE PONY TAIL. Sylvette has continued to paint all her life. Several works available. Contact us at the gallery.
