Hannah Oram

Hannah grew up with her family in a small village in Cambridgeshire. She remembers playing happily in the fields behind her house and the woods down the lane, climbing trees and making art whenever she had free time. The natural world of plants and animals fascinated her – she always wanted to understand why and to learn how things worked.

Her aptitude for studying and love of biology led her to follow a career in medicine and she went on to work in the NHS for 17 years, the last 8 as a GP.

However, the fire inside, for creating art never went out. Hannah thought the idea of becoming a painter was only a fantasy but when the Covid-19 pandemic hit it caused her to re-evaluate her path in life. With three children settled in school and a supportive husband, she decided to stop her work as a doctor and leap headlong into the art world.

Hannah’s paintings are bold and life-affirming, and the lack of any formal art training means an eye unaffected by the rules and regulations that often govern painting practice. These are full of joy, and present everyday objects in a fascinating, light-hearted way. We love them and we hope you do too!
